Job Description
The Assistant Athletic Director & Athletic Compliance Officer coordinates, updates, and supervises programs to ensure compliance with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) regulations.
This position helps maintain the integrity of the institution’s athletic programs and ensures that activities within the athletic department comply with regulations set forth by the NAIA & NCAA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Regularly educating coaches, staff, and student-athletes about compliance-related matters such as recruiting rules, financial aid restrictions, and amateurism rules.
+ Assists coaches with NAIA/NCAA requirements. Supervises/monitors recruiting activities, including communications, evaluations, admissions, etc. to ensure compliance with NAIA/NCAA and University processes and procedures.
+ Assists in the certification of continuing, transfer and initial eligibility of student-athletes.
+ Collaborates with Athletic Director to implement regulations, policies, and rules for educational workshops for Athletic Department personnel, student-athletes, and stakeholders.
+ Communicates directly with the NAIA/NCAA Eligibility Center to monitor the eligibility of recruits and incoming freshman student-athletes.
+ Monitors compliance with NAIA/NCAA regulations, including policies, procedures and forms involved to maintain internal controls and student-athlete eligibility.
+ Monitors paperwork involved with official and unofficial campus recruiting visits to ensure compliance with NAIA/NCAA regulations.
+ Coordinates the National Letter of Intent program and scholarship agreements with Financial Aid and Conference Office.
+ Oversee and/or assist in investigating concerns, complaints and potential rule violations as applicable.
+ Monitors sports camp and clinic information and evaluates information for compliance with NAIA/NCAA regulations. Performs in-person spot checks and reviews camp employment lists.
+ Provides and submits waiver requests. Provides interpretations for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.
+ Assist in transportation of athletes to/from athletic events, which may include driving a full-size passenger van or other large capacity vehicle.
+ Overseeing the allocation of athletic scholarships to ensure they comply with regulations about limits on the number of scholarships and their distribution among athletes.
+ Making sure the athletes receive proper financial aid packages that are compliant with NAIA/NCAA or other governing body standards.
+ Acting as the primary contact between the college’s athletics department and external regulatory bodies like the NCAA or regional conferences.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ One year of related experience
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications
+ Knowledge of NAIA & NCAA rules and regulations
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
+ Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
+ Master’s degree in applicable field
+ At least three (3) years professional experience in a compliance-related field/position
+ State of Texas agency/higher education experience
+ Specialized compliance training and/or relevant certification(s)
+ Knowledge and/or experience regarding FERPA, Title IX, HIPAA
+ CPR and/or Bloodborne Pathogens certification/training
Other Requirements
+ Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality
+ Acceptable driving record and periodic completion of van safety course
+ Must have a State of Texas or Arkansas class "C" vehicle operator's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
+ This position may be required to handle Protected Health Information (PHI) as defined by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, in accordance with System policy and is further required to complete FERPA and HIPAA training as a condition of employment, within a reasonable timeframe after employment and on an as-needed basis thereafter.
