Job Description
SUMMARY:
Full-time Teaching Faculty position in vibrant CEPH-accredited undergraduate (BS) and graduate (MPH) programs in Public Health. Grounded in social justice, our program is committed to preparing practitioners and scholars who will work with communities and health systems to promote health equity and systems-level change. The Teaching Faculty will teach foundational and required courses in the BS and MPH programs with concentrations in Health Systems Administration and Policy, and Community Health Education. The department boasts unique partnerships with the university’s MBA program, Medical Humanities, Psychology, and other programs. The Teaching Faculty will assist in expanding these partnerships and in curriculum development, will teach undergraduate and graduate public health courses, student advisement, and participate in department, college, and university committees and activities.
Position is a two-year, twelve-month, non-tenure track appointment, with eligibility for reappointment based on established NTTP procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Earned doctorate in health education, health policy, health administration, or similar public health focus. The ideal candidate will have strong community-based experience to assist students in identifying and preparing for potential fieldwork and to apply to their teaching in core courses in the bachelor’s and master’s programs. Experience in curriculum development is desired, to assist in furthering the department’s goals to expand its offerings at the masters, doctoral, and certificate levels.
THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH:
The Department of Public Health houses vibrant BS and MPH degree programs in each of two concentrations: Community Health Education; and Health Systems Administration and Policy. Both programs are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). The department also offers several unique combined undergraduate/graduate degree programs with partners in Psychology, Medical Humanities, and Business; and an MPH/MBA program in Health Systems Administration and Policy, the university’s first graduate dual-college/dual-degree program. Current faculty in the department represent a variety of backgrounds, interests, and expertise.
