ASIC and Microelectronics Design Team Lead – Canada – Semiconductors

Role Overview:

As the Technical Lead for the Microelectronics Systems ASIC Team, you will lead the design and prototyping of innovative electro-optical communication systems—from concept to tape-out and system-level integration. Your primary focus will involve developing active optical cables and integrating optical transceivers while ensuring high performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the design and development of advanced optical systems, including transmitter/receiver modules and electronics for Active Optical Cables (AOCs).Spearhead ASIC integration with high-speed PCBs, implementing control protocols such as I2C, SPI, or UART.Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability across all designs from concept to prototype.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field with a focus on microelectronics or photonic circuits (mandatory).Minimum of 7 years of experience in design with a proven track record leading projects from concept to tape-out.Proven technical leadership in electronics and optics throughout the entire design process.Strong problem-solving skills and a drive to innovate in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.Project management skills and experience with cross-disciplinary team collaboration.

Compensation:

Base Salary: $200,000 – $250,000 CAD, depending on experience.Highly competitive equity grants are included, considered part of the total compensation package.Competitive benefits program for full-time employees
