About The Job
Dudek is seeking senior-level professionals to provide as-needed biological surveys and habitat assessments. This position will be based at project sites within California. Candidate would have demonstrated expertise in a specific environmental resource area including but not limited to biological and aquatic resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Ability to work collaboratively with internal Dudek staff, construction personnel and regulatory personnel to develop solutions while implementing permit conditions.
+ Coordinate, and assist with as needed, field surveys and habitat assessments for special-status aquatic species;
+ Assist with preparation of, and provide senior review of, biological impact analysis and technical reports and documents;
+ Work with Dudek project managers in identifying potential biological issues associated with various projects;
+ Coordinate with clients and resource agency staff on an as-needed basis.
+ Record and take notes of any observations on a Dudek platform to be used for reporting purposes.
+ Follow all Dudek and construction site safety protocols.
+ Ability to travel to Project sites located throughout California.
+ Comfortable with hiking long distances in potentially inclement weather/heat and rough terrain.
+ Posses a high level of attention to detail and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, or other related field; AND a minimum of 8-10 years demonstrated field experience in biological resource management and surveying.
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license and have active personal automobile liability insurance by first day of employment.
* As a federal contractor, successful candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: pre - employment drug test and background check.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Highly organized with the ability to multi-task.
+ Possess sound judgement and able to “think-on-your-feet”.
+ Self-motivated with an interest to learn and grow as a project team.
+ High level of understanding of current State and federal regulations including both state and federal endangered species acts and CEQA.
+ Possess a valid USFWS 10(a)1(A) permit or equivalent experience to conduct protocol surveys for species throughout California, including but not limited to least Bell’s vireo, California gnatcatcher, southwestern willow flycatcher, California tiger salamander, California red-legged frog, branchiopods, and other federally listed species within California.
+ Possess appropriate approvals from California Department of Fish and Wildlife to conduct surveys (either a Scientific Collecting Permit or Memorandum of Understanding depending on species).
+ Expertise with the habitat requirements of aquatic reptiles, amphibians, and fish species within the greater northern and central California regions, with particular focus on those considered of special-status by state and federal resource agencies.
+ Expertise with aquatic species survey protocols, including appropriate state and federal permits to survey and sample various sensitive aquatic species.
+ Expertise and experience identifying common and rare plant species and/or using dichotomous keys to identify plants.

Working Conditions:
+ This job may require project site visits which are based outdoors which can include excessive noise, uneven walking surfaces, extreme weather, moving vehicles and equipment.

+ This job requires attending meetings, both in person and virtually as well as speaking on the phone or in person with government agency representatives, members of the public, and others. Speaking, hearing and listening are required.
+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
+ Outdoor activity may involve walking/trekking in uneven terrain over long distances in extreme weather conditions for extended periods of time.

Proposed Salary Range: $40-$85 hourly*
*Final agreed upon compensation will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, certifications, skills, and work location.
