Position Summary
The Area Regen Ag Manager will implement ADM’s regenerative agricultural initiatives in Western IL and Missouri. They will work closely with the agriculture sector, non-government organizations and government agencies on implementing projects related to water quality, soil health and natural climate solutions. The Area Regen Ag Manager will work closely with the Climate Smart Origination Manager to help implement ADM’s Iowa regenerative ag strategy through engagement with farmers, ADM Origination Teams, local/regional members of the agricultural sector and conservation partners.
This position will mostly work in the Quincy, IL office, but will also work in the field at locations with our Regional Origination team.
What You’ll Do:Steward, facilitate, and leverage existing and new relationships with members of state and federal agencies, as well as the agriculture sector, including farmers, producer groups, conservation partners, and supply chain partners.Implement ADM’s regenerative agriculture strategies that lead to increased adoption of sustainable practices, including soil health and nutrient load reduction management.Work with the Originators to identify producer candidates for regen ag programs, facilitate and execute programs, and achieve goals.Engage with producers through in-person farm appointments and phone calls, explain regenerative ag programs and requirements, provide enrollment consultations, setup contracts and connect farmers with technical assistance.Serve as a resource for farmers and farmer advisors relating to implementation of nutrient management and soil health Best Management Practices.Facilitate regenerative ag meetings, trainings and outreach efforts. Support Climate Smart Origination Manager in writing grants, funding proposals and provide grant management for programs and partners.Assist with design and implementation of complex projects, setting and meeting deadlines, and ensuring project accountability. Perform tasks with minimal supervision and make decisions based on analysis, experience, and context.Ensure program compliance with internal GHG protocol policies and external requirements.Who We’re Looking For:BA/BS degree and 3 years of experience in conservation, agriculture or agronomy, natural resource management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience working with the agricultural community, including communicating with farmers and ag industry professionals.Experience completing tasks independently with respect to timeline(s).Experience developing relationships and collaborating within the private and public sectors.Experience working for or with ag retailers and agronomists.Knowledge of current trends and practices in conservation and agriculture – especially 4R, soil health, ecosystem service markets and edge of field practices.Knowledge of state and federal cost-share programs.Knowledge of USDA programs and soil and water conservation districts.Ability and willingness to apply science to decision-making and guide activities.Ability to interpret field data and communicate to non-scientific stakeholders.Politically savvy and experience in presenting to and communicating with business, governmental, and community leaders.Experience using common software applications such as Word, Excel, web browsers, etc.Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.Travel includes occasional day trips and approximately 25% overnight trips.  What We Do at This Location:
Primary Office Location:This position will primarily be located in the Quincy, IL or St. Louis, MO locationsRegional Description:  The region contains processing, rail and truck house assetsPhysical locations include: Locations in Western IL and MOCommodities purchased include: corn, soybeans and wheatVarious sustainability programs are offered in this regionTypical hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (non-harvest season). Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate opportunity needs.Team Description: This role primarily supports the Western IL and MO Origination team located in St. Louis, Quincy, Havana, Burlington, Mexico, MO and the Eastern MO elevators. This team is comprised of individuals with a core focus on farm-direct origination into ADM assets and building producer relationships.
