The Area Manager handles the overall management and operations of the facilities within the Massillon area.  The Area Manager will direct the staff to ensure operational efficiency, financial viability, quality customer service, regulatory compliance, divisional growth, positive employee engagement and outstanding community relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Develop business plans, establish priorities, and lead the team to achieve company goals in all assigned operating areas.Actively promote the company’s position and image by establishing, fostering, and maintaining positive communication, and relationships with customers, public officials, regulators, and other stakeholders.Implements programs to ensure high quality customer service, exceeding expectations established under federal and state regulations, including the Ohio Public Utility Commission.Deliver value to our customers through best management practices. Understands and applies the principles of professional water and wastewater practices in the operation, maintenance, repair and replacement of utility assets and infrastructure.Actively promote and monitor compliance with Aqua Ohio’s safety programs and policies, developing a robust safety culture.Preparation and management of operating and capital plans. Manage and report on monthly and quarterly financial and operating performance metrics through comprehensive evaluation of revenue/expenditures, operating metrics, and capital/operating plans.  Manage company resources to achieve stated business plan results.Drive company initiatives related to technology, process, and systems innovation.Supervises staff including responsibility for employee selection, mutual development of performance goals and measurements; performance evaluation; providing training and growth opportunities; planning and directing work assignments; creating atmosphere of trust and support; administering company policies affecting staff; and communicating information for effective job performance.Accomplish growth of customer base.Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor's degree in a related field is required.At least 5 years of industry experience is preferred, including management and leadership roles.

Must possess strong leadership skills and decision-making abilities to thrive in a highly decentralized environment while adhering to centralized policies and procedures.Must be able to motivate people, manage differences and engage people in a collective effort to meet objectives, all in service to our customers and employees. Must be able to anticipate and help the company and its employees adapt to change.Excellent written and verbal communications skills; communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal and external customers.Strong customer service and leadership skills.Ability to work well under pressure.Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.Ability to work effectively in a team fostered multi-tasking environment.Strong computer skills over multiple platforms used in the normal course of business.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Perform sedentary work- exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.Working conditions includes travel to assigned water and wastewater systems, as well as other Aqua Ohio and Essential Utilities locations.Travel requirements include overnight travel.Respond to after-hour emergencies and attend routine meetings outside of normal work hours.
