Area Manager, Concrete

This position is responsible for the management of Greater Vancouver area ready mix concrete operations. The primary responsibilities of this role are the oversight of planning, sales, operations, human resources, budgets, business targets, quality control and major customer account relationships.

What you’ll get to doManage the operations to maintain a competitive position in the marketProactively manage safety and health initiatives to continuously improve the company’s performance and promote the highest level of safetyManage capital and fixed asset programs and set strategies that leverage the efficient use of those assetsIdentify capital projects, oversee the development of AFEs and management of approved projectsProvide leadership and direction in the effective recruiting, training, and development of staffDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key customers and industry stakeholders in the market that will assist in recognizing and adapting the changing customer needs and emerging market trendsEffectively participate in cross business teams and other initiatives that contribute to the achievement of the overall Canada Region goalsNegotiate collective agreements and manage labour relationsEnsure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, completion of required training, and monitoring complianceMaintain relationships with the local community, industry organizations and regulatory bodiesEssential Experience and SkillsPost-secondary degree combined with 7-10 years’ experience in a management roleAdvanced interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and think strategicallyKnowledge of concrete products, manufacturing processes, quality control and equipmentDemonstrated competence in the areas of financial management, performance management, problem-solving and decision-makingKnowledge in mining and processing of aggregates would be an assetProficient in customer managementDemonstrated accountability for employee safety, health and environment management programsProficient computer skills and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
Work Environment 

This position is primarily located indoors but requires conducting business in conditions that may include inclement weather, heat, humidity, elevated noise levels, dusty environment and moving mechanical equipment
