The Opportunity:
Surveyor / Reality Capture BIM Intern - Summer 2025 (May - August) - REMOTE + national travel (60-80%)
Our travelingArchitectural Survey Internworks as part of our Reality Capture & BIM team to accurately collect and document a wide range of field information using a variety of methodologies, including manual and laser measurement, CAD drawings, BIM models, data applications, photography, and others as applicable. At Sevan you will be part of a team that is dynamic and fast paced. Strong communication skills and a desire to be involved in all aspects of a project life cycle are a must. Problem solving skills, thinking outside the box and dealing with ambiguity are skills that we value.
You will work alongside experienced individuals as well as the opportunity to operate independently. Our interns do not make coffee runs, or push papers - they receive hands-on, real-world experience and take pride in learning day to day activities that help launch our business forward. We are looking for people who enjoy the challenge of taking on a leadership role and working together on a team each day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Operate LIDAR scanning equipment to document visual and dimensional data at project sites.
+ Utilize survey tools (laser, tape, scanner, etc.) to accurately gather, verify, and document dimensions.
+ Accurately register laser scan point clouds using various software.
+ Assist in collecting existing conditions data from building sites and provide photographic documentation
+ Assist in creating as-built drawings including building floor plan, elevations, RCP, roof plan, site plan in AutoCAD (experience required), REVIT (experience preferred)
+ Identify and document key specifications for electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and other equipment as necessary.
+ Assist in creating existing condition drawings with AutoCAD or Revit based on the scope requirements.
+ Revise project deliverables based on redline correction sets and feedback.
+ Assist in preparation and delivery of survey reports in accordance with company & client requirements.
+ Follow prescribed methods for documenting existing conditions on each assigned project.
+ Follow safety protocols to protect their health and safety, that of others around them, the client-s property, and the equipment used on each project.
+ Follow company guidelines for administrative tasks such as timesheets and expense reporting.
+ Ability to travel by plane.
+ Ability to lift extension ladders to access roofs.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
+ In progress: 4-year degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent
+ Strong ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of the project team including management, project management, clients, client-s organization, contractors, and vendors
+ Must be flexible, adaptable and able to work with fluid schedules and working conditions
+ Must maintain a professional appearance and interact with on-site customers in a courteous and professional manner
+ Ability to prioritize and handle diverse workload
+ Willing to dive in, proactively ask for new things you can help with, desire to learn and ambition to excel
+ Strong attention to detail
+ Ability to tolerate ambiguity and be able to work effectively within a diverse workplace
+ Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize in a changing work environment
+ Proficient working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite
Work Conditions & Pay:
This position is remote and field based and requires 60-80% travel around the US. Multi-shift work may often be required to accomplish work in active retail locations to meet aggressive schedules. Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to work with fluid schedules and working conditions. Able to work on your feet indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Able to extend, lift and climb a ladder for roof access. Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to stand; walk; occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
The anticipated compensation range for the position is an hourly rate of $17 - $21 based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
