D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for an Architectural Plans Manager. The right candidate will negotiate, work with and bind municipalities on all design review and construction document approvals. Lead and direct outside architectural and engineering firms in preparation of approved house plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Collaborate with Sales Manager to choose plans for new and existing communities Oversee the submittal and approval process for selected plans in residential projects Create forecasting schedules and begin negotiations with municipalities 6-8 months prior to community opening Finalize negotiations with municipalities and obtain plan approvals 1-2 months prior to community opening Negotiate and work with the staff of municipalities to bind specific design requirements, ensure timely approvals on all construction documents, plans and revisions Secure, negotiate and manage outside consultants, architects and engineer contracts Manage outside consultants, architects and engineers in the development of new plans and new product implementation as direct by senior management Draft, document and oversee correspondence to architects, engineers, and manufacturers relating to correction of any approved plan changes Work closely with job site personnel coordinate and ensure plan changes are implemented and resolve plan discrepancies and/or questions Oversee the approved plan documents and the coordination of plan changes and/or plan corrections with other company departments to include Purchasing, Marketing, Sales, Operations and Construction Oversee and authorize payments to outside consultants, architects and engineers Maintain knowledge and documentation on current permitting processes at all municipalities for active communities Review architectural plans for building code compliance and builder's predetermined construction compliance details Perform site visits and frame walks as required Review structural framing, roof trusses, and foundation plans for value engineering Verify that architectural, structural engineering, roof trusses and foundation are correct and accurate Perform routine on-site inspections to verify architectural plan compliance with the Construction Department as necessary Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company Ability to travel overnight

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly managestwo or more employees in the Operations Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

A.) from four-year college or university;Five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceBasic residential construction knowledge, ability to understand technical plans and drawingsMust have a vehicle and a valid driver's licenseAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applicationProficiency with MS Office and email

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management preferredExperience in construction phase documentationWorking knowledge of JD Edwards preferredKnowledge of CAD and other drafting programs is preferredStrong communication skillsAbility to multi-task and attention to detail

Expected salary range: $90,000 - $95,000
