Job Description

Your Team

The Architectural Design Manager will provide key architectural support to residential Housing Operations by managing the production, accuracy and timely delivery of all construction drawings for use by the Production and Sales Team. This includes sourcing and managing external consultants and proactively coordinating with, directing, and managing internal resources as appropriate to assure quality, compliant, and efficient construction. The position requires an ability to multi-task, be detail oriented, self-sufficient, dependable, ability to cope under pressure, maintain good judgement, eager to learn and have a professional, supportive attitude. ​

Your Key Deliverables

Manage completion and timeline for new product development construction drawings in accordance with deadlines set by Housing Operations

Maintenance of current architectural plans and all changes to plans.  Maintain log of plan changes

Manage communication with outside architectural consultants

Create and communicate architectural budgets for integration into site budgets

Manage accuracy of construction drawings being used in the field

Communicate all plan changes to directly to field teams and department managers

Resolve code or other architectural issues that arise in the field

Verify material takeoff accuracy for new projects being bid

Assist with takeoffs and estimating for new product being designed

Schedule and conduct frame walks for new models being built

Review marketing brochures for accuracy prior to release to sales managers and web

Market and competition research to ensure our product is spec’d appropriately

Estimating cost of new product

Implementing, Understanding and Analyzing Trends in the Housing Market

Standardize architectural and structural details

Assist with designing MEP layouts to ensure cost effective and efficient installs

Ensure plans and designs meet entitlement guidelines, energy efficiency standards, as well as code requirements in each municipality

Actively engage with field personnel, purchasing and marketing to answer questions and improve construction drawings

Review furniture feasibility and livability

Collect customer feedback on home plans, options, and finishes to analyze findings and suggest implementations for improvement.

Identifies upcoming product needs as part of the Division’s overall architecture program, and elevates/responds to such needs accordingly.

Prepares scopes of work for outside architectural and drafting consultants.

Facilitates and directs prototype plan walks and follows up with documenting and distributing changes and coordinating appropriate plan revisions.

Maintains a Division plan library, including architectural and structural plans, cabinet layouts, electrical layouts, and floor break diagrams.

Provide digital and hard product samples for use by sales teams.

Help create option and color packages. 

Must Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering or similar and a combination of 4+ years of related experience in the construction/homebuilding industry.

Interior design experience is a plus.

Knowledge and understanding of construction industry business practices and processes and cost management

Individual must be able to work professionally and effectively with employees at all levels within the organization

Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.

Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as with a team.

Problem solving and analytical skills

Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is a must

Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and various BIM software
