Archaeology Principal Investigator – Full Time

 

POWER Engineers’ Environmental Division provides planning, permitting, engineering, site assessment, and corrective action services to clients worldwide. Across multiple industries, our diverse staff specialize in the areas of air, water, waste, ecological and cultural resources across the country and internationally.

 Our Central Cultural Resources Department is seeking an Archaeology Principal Investigator to join the environmental team. This position can be based in one of the following offices with the ability to work remotely:

 

Austin, Texas

Houston, Texas

San Antonio, Texas

Baton Rouge, LA   

This is a full-time, salaried position that comes with a great benefits package.

 Job Summary of Roles and Responsibilities:

The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team of archaeologists, architectural historians, historians, biologists, and ecologists on a variety of project scales.

 Required Education/Experience:

·        Meets the Secretary of the Interior (SOI) professional standards for archaeology

·        Master’s degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or related field

·        Minimum of five (5) years’ professional experience years and at least (2) as a field supervisor or higher

·        Experience with local cultural history and material culture in the South-Central United States, including Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Mississippi

·        The ability to successfully plan and implement cultural resources survey projects.

·        Knowledge of Federal and State Permitting requirements in the South-Central United States with an emphasis in Texas and Louisiana.

·        Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

·        Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

·        The ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment.

·        Excellent research and writing skills

Desired Education/Experience:

·        Extensive knowledge and understanding of current equipment, technology, and approaches used in the recording and documenting of archaeological sites and artifacts

·        Specialized skills and expertise in one or more of the following: historic architecture, geoarchaeology, or analysis of pre-contact period lithics or ceramics.

·        Demonstrated experience in archaeological data analysis and report writing

·        Ability to work independently, and to fully plan and execute personal assignments with minimal instruction

·        Knowledge of health and safety standards

·        Valid driver’s license

·        Ability to work long hours, in potentially harsh environments, and under varying weather conditions

·        Ability to successfully lead teams composed of diverse personalities

·        Candidates may expect to be subject to client or project-specific formal background checks or drug test regimens
