Job Description:

Archaeological Field Technician

The Archaeological Technician will perform field and lab work under the direction of a Project Archaeologist. 

Responsibilities

Archaeological surveys including hand excavated shovel tests GPS data collectionCleaning, labeling, and cataloguing of artifactsMaintaining equipmentAssist with document writing and production

Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field from an accredited college or universityUniversity-based archaeological field school3-6 months' field and/or lab experience is preferredExperience working in the Greater San Antonio and/or Austin, Texas preferredMust be able to work outdoors in varying terrains as well as a wide range of weather conditions on a consistent basisMust be able to walk, bend, kneel, and stand for prolonged time periodsDig using a variety of hand tools on a consistent basisMust be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40-50 lbs. such as a field pack, bucket of soil, etc.Must be able to travel 

Preferred Qualifications

3-6 months' experience of field and/or lab work
