In this dynamic role, you will work as a technical expert supporting the customer, providing solutions, and developing opportunities to meet our company’s sales growth goals.
The region covered for this role would be Southern ME.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Application Engineer will work on assignments to deliver to our customers competitive engineered solutions as part of projects through industry leading manufacturing processes which will lower the customer’s total cost and secure sustainable aftermarket sales growth. He/she will implement tools, techniques, methods, and processes from standardized and/or optimized processing methods into CAM programs. The position will involve working across multifunctional teams to support sales growth.
Additionally, the Specialist will:
Executes delivery of technical solutions and sales support to customers and distributors, in close cooperation with Account Manager to grow share of wallet.Supports Account Manager in new product and service introduction to the customer. Recommend products and services that fit well with the customer’s business needs.Responds to complex technical questions regarding products, systems, or services.Troubleshoots, investigates, and resolves technical problems that arise.Develop test applications used for testing modules, including customer-specific components. Produces CAM programs as needed to support customer projects, training, and testing.Takes lead, manages and/or supports customer projects.Participate in pre-sales activities to include analyzing customers’ technical needs and the feasibility of projects.Participate in post-sales activities to include resolving implementation problems for the customer.Explore, identify, and develop new application areas as well as developing existing areas.Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve technical problems that arise during and/or after project implementation.Actively supports best practice sharing and network efficiency related to our resources to include application, processing, machining and CAM solutions.Provide customers with documentation such as CAM cycle times, source code, simulations, etc.Travel is required for up to 10%, domestic.Your way of working
You can build effective working relationships with the end customer and distributor to secure projects and opportunities to grow sales.Supports Sales activities including analysis of customer’s technical needs; suggests and implements solutions.Ambassador for driving new ways of working and future technology within field of expertise to ensure customers’ needs are fulfilled and profitable business is gained. Accountable to ensure successful opportunities, that are identified by Account Managers or others, are qualified and the appropriate products are applied in a first-class manner to maximize Sandvik Coromant’s market share and profitable business.Documents applied products and services performance and savings, whether successful or unsuccessful, to ensure Sandvik Coromant can develop and deliver the most competitive products on the market. Leads the customer projects from start to finish together with Account Manager. Ensures post-sales activities include resolving implementation problems and conduct training.Communicates with hardware, software, and systems design engineers to ensure products and services are modified, configured, and installed per customer needs. Coordinates between all internal stakeholders, partners, and customers around projects and opportunities. Monitors competitors’ landscape and alternative solutions to ensure Sandvik Coromant’s business.Business Development - Support
Develop business plans in collaboration with Account Managers as appropriate, to ensure market share increases/key product focus within the sales department are achieved in line with financial targets and KPI’s. Work with the Account Manager to proactively deliver Customer needs analysis.
Your profile
Degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical/manufacturing engineering or a related field.Solid and proven technical experience and knowledge with cutting tools.Must have strong metal cutting skills.Proven track record in delivering good business results.Strong knowledge of commercial and technical terms and conditions.Relevant experience from CAD/CAM and application knowledge is an advantage (NX preferred).Project management knowledge and experience managing external and internal customer relationships is an advantage.Applicant must be a US citizen or have eligible work permit.Must possess a current driver’s license valid for his/her state of primary residence.Required Competencies
Broad technical knowledge in metal cutting tools and strong competence in the area of expertise. Structured and organized business orientated approachAbility to manage customer requests and business issues effectively, capable of leveraging all resources. Ability to listen to customers and sales project teams to understand underlying needs and ensure suitable technical solutions are delivered to secure profitable business for Sandvik Coromant Knowledge in digital technologies in metalworking (industry 4.0) CAM (Mastercam/Siemens/Catia or Other systems will be considered)High level of CAD/CAM to include multi-axis machining.Advanced application knowledge and experience in metal cutting within the aerospace industry on key aerospace components.Knowledge of Machine tools/Machine controllers.Effective communicator and networker.Cross boarder project management.Analytical and problem-solving skills of basic manufacturing processes.Benefits
