Application Security Engineer

EchoStar is looking for an experienced Application Security Engineer to lead the application security program safeguarding our business applications at our Hughes Network Systems division. This position will be located at our office in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with development teams to integrate appropriate cybersecurity features as early as possible into development life cyclesLeverage leadership and cybersecurity skills to educate and empower development, deployment, and platform engineering teams to implement security requirementsMaintain an understanding of application security requirements such authentication, access management, data protection, secure coding and secure API useMaintain a knowledge of security processes and controls such as Web Application Firewalls (WAF), Application allow listing, Vulnerability Management, and Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR)Guide developers on mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilitiesPlan, lead, and advance DevSecOps and Vulnerability Management initiatives using a metrics and risk-based approachEstablish relationships with developers and security champions to help ensure DevSecOps and Vulnerability Management requirements and tooling are integrated into business systems, processes, and workflows

Basic Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field8 years of professional experience in information technology or engineering4 years of experience in cybersecurity as part of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical fieldProficient with security testing technologies including static analysis tools, dynamic analysis tools, and penetration testing tools, such as Snyk, SonarQube, Invicti, XPANSEWorking knowledge of OWASP Top 10 And CIS Top controlsKnowledge of containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Able to communicate effectively with both developers and operations personnel, including conveying security concepts using terms and references they are familiar withFamiliarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)Understanding of DevSecOps practicesBroad cybersecurity skills such as in security architecture, cloud security and artificial intelligence security

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.

Compensation Range

Annual Salary: $96,000.00 - $128,000.00
