Application Engineering Intern

POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an intern/co-op position for an Engineering Student at our Propulsion Technical Center in Auburn Hills, MI, working for the Engineering Application team, developing high voltage heaters for electric vehicles and EGR valve and coolers for internal combustion engines.  The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with testing, data collection and analysis and reporting on results.  If the student is available for multiple terms/semesters (preferred), they will transition more into engineering assignments increasing in responsibility as they progress towards their degree.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Lab Development:

Test set-up, and data collection set-upPart measurementData management – download, format, and present data in an organized fashion

                            

Problem solving:

Assist with failure/root cause analysisAssist with urgent customer issues (product sorts, build concerns, etc.)Support on activities such as reflashing components at OEMs

Product Development:

Assist with drawing checking & releasesData analysis, to improve our knowledge base

Teamwork:

Considers and seeks out the impact of his/her actions within the team.  Actively seeks collaboration with internal and external team membersWilling to do some travel if necessaryPerforms other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Student working towards a bachelor’s degree (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Preferred)Must be able to demonstrate mechanical aptitudeGPA of 3.0 or betterProficiency with computer and MS Office products preferredA drive for results, enthusiasm and to be eager to learn
