The Application Engineering Specialist will shadow and assist an experienced Application Engineer. They will gain increased exposure, understanding then progress up to responsibility of PLC / HMI application monitoring, control software. Assist with field testing, commissioning at customer sites and other project engineering and service-related work as directed. Includes exposure to HMI / SCADA systems. Eventually, could actively troubleshoot issues at customer sites and work with Senior Engineering resources remotely to resolve issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Will receive requirements collaborating with an experienced Application Engineer.Learn and follow established Best Practices, Development Standards and ProceduresCollaborate with Senior Engineer to learn to understand, edit and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) application programs.Assist with installation of developed HMI application software, other software requirements and third-party vendor systems.Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), as required.Aid field service technicians in troubleshooting and repair of PLC related issues at customer sites or with their remote support as appropriate. QUALIFICATIONSMinimum of High School Diploma, Trade School, Computer Science or Electrical & Control System experience a plus. Looking for motivated self-starting individual, is driven, is client-driven and interested to learn. Effective communication skills and ability to work with others and under direction of others is essential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSAbility to communicate orally with Senior employees and other co-workers. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Sitting for extended periods in front of a computer monitor is common. Hearing within normal ranges is necessary for communication with the Project Team and customers. Adequate vision is needed for using a computer monitor. Lifting of computer servers, workstations, and peripherals is expected. Good manual dexterity for setting up computer equipment and attaching associated cables.
WORK ENVIRONMENTThe job is performed both indoors at the office and at the jobsite. Activities include extended periods of sitting and extensive work at a computer monitor. This job includes the potential of working irregular hours with on-call availability to troubleshoot project startup and warranty problems.
TRAVELTravel will be required on a regular basis to assist with troubleshooting, start-up commissioning, testing, and demonstration of the company’s supplied SCADA monitoring and control systems.
