Application Engineer

Insight Global is looking for an Application Engineer in the Plymouth, Michigan area. The work environment for this role will require some domestic or international travel you will be working in labs, garages, proving grounds, and business office settings. The Application Engineer will be modifying, developing, and integrating software functions to ensure proper operation for electronic brake control modules. You will also be working with internal departments and customers to ensure proper component development. The engineer will be assisting in maintaining customer products, customer relationships, and supporting the manufacturing plant. The Software Engineer will perform all necessary steps to ensure the brake control softwares performance is meeting customer and internal expectations and specifications.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Understanding current logic specification and C-code.
- Detailed knowledge of vehicle CAN protocols and diagnostics.
- Basic electrical system knowledge and use of multi-meters and oscilloscopes.
- Root-cause analysis to determine failures in software and hardware.
- Development of new tools and processes to improve quality and efficiency.
- Development of C-code logic and generation of unit/integration test cases.
- Documentation of development and deployment of the solution using the internal software change request system.
- Participation in DRBFM/DMFEA reviews and document creation.
- Development of internal systems to ensure ISO 26262 requirements are being achieved.
- Development of HIL/SIL environment and vehicle simulations to ensure software performance. This includes providing technical direction/input to other Engineers and Technicians.
- Participation in technical discussions with management, internal and external customers and suppliers.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Provide expertise to verify the interface of the software to the vehicle and to ensure that customer specifications for the vehicle dynamic products are met.
- Assist and support Sales Department and Account Managers with technical information for current programs and future opportunities. This includes supporting design change cost negotiations.
- Assisting management and other groups with maintaining program timing plans, DFMEA, DRBFM, DWO, drawings, and other technical and program documents.
Other special projects, tasks or duties as assigned by management.
Travel:
50%-75% - Fowlerville, Michigan & 4-6 weeks of travel to Raco, Michigan
Compensation:
$70,000k/yr to $75,000k/yr
