Job Description

Monitors therapeutic and donor collection apheresis operations to ensure safe, efficient, and quality performance standards for patients, donors, visitors, and employees. Works in collaboration with Apheresis Team (comprised of apheresis nurses and physicians) and the Transfusion/Tissue Services Quality Coordinator to maintain a quality program to ensure the provision of quality in all aspects of care and service. Manages overall assigned responsibilities and projects within the Apheresis program. Takes responsibility for quality, accreditation, and regulatory oversight. Under direction of physician and nursing leadership, assists with staff and patient education programs.

Experience

5 years of experience in a relevant field including experience with quality and clinical programs

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in clinical area, quality, process improvement, or project managementExperience with Apheresis and Transfusion Services

Education

Bachelor of Science in relevant field

Certification Summary

Current GA license or certificate as required by field (e.g., Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia for a nurse applicant)

Job Responsibilities

Manages quality oversight and process improvement activities.Ensures optimal, continual compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards for therapeutic apheresis service by routinely analyzing accreditation standards, regulatory rules, and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta policies.Develops and implements activities and policies/procedures designed to meet agency requirements.Directs formulation of responses to accreditation and regulatory inspections.Develops, coordinates, and participates in ongoing, multifaceted quality assurance program with auditing to develop and implement strategies that will result in improvement in clinical practice and patient outcomes.Monitors and conducts audits of operational processes to ensure safe, efficient, and quality performance standards for patients, donors, visitors, and employees.May collaborate on orientation, competency assessment, and mandatory education for nursing staff as appropriate for apheresis.Monitors and conducts audits ensuring that all therapeutic apheresis employees and physicians have completed competencies and credentialing as required.Gathers, analyzes, and reports data for therapeutic and donor apheresis performance measures.Assists in developing and writing standard operating procedures related to quality.Performs other duties as assigned to support ongoing needs of department.
