Anti Money Laundering Investigations - Associate

As an Associate in the APAC Anti Money Laundering (AML) Investigations team, you will be a key contributor and will be responsible for identification, investigations and reporting of suspicious transactions. The APAC AML investigations team manages Mantas and/or manual escalations of cases consistent with the Global AML Standards, provides an initial assessment of potential Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing as well as other nefarious activity and recommends cases for escalation and further review or closure as false positives. In this role, you will report directly to the APAC AML Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB) Investigations Team Lead.

Job responsibilities

Be the subject matter expert of AML and/or Terrorist Financing investigations, including comprehensive understanding of AML processes, Technology, Case Management and products/servicesManage and ensure that the throughput and quality of investigations are adhering to the required standards, while managing SLA appropriately and timelyAssess investigations and AML trends, including partnership with regional or global stakeholders to effectively escalate, communicate, transfer information or implement change managementUnderstand existing procedures and standards and assist with cross training and/or upskillingParticipate in AML Investigations or Line of Business initiatives, process improvements or enhancements, including the use of technologyEnsure timeliness and execution of any expected scope of work relating to Risk and Controls partners (e.g. Quality Assurance, Monitoring and Testing), Audit, Regulatory and/or Controls Evaluation requests are adhered toGather, coordinate and participate proactively in changes to the firm’s AML policies/processes or AML trends with MLROs, relevant GFCC Functions, Compliance and/or Line of Business

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistical Mathematics, Data Science or related disciplinesMinimum of 3 years of experience in the Financial Services IndustryDemonstrated track-record experience and knowledge of either Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Foreign Correspondent Bank, or Wealth Management AML investigations, including proficient understanding of APAC region AML/CFT regulations and requirementsAbility to own, deep-dive and/or investigate issues and can derive solutions independently, ultimately ensuring successful implementation or resolutionProficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.), and the experience to handle large volumes of quantitative dataStrong interpersonal or client management skills required to work effectively, influence and/or negotiate desired outcomes with multiple stakeholders and/or senior management

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Ability to speak and write Business Chinese will be advantageous due to presence in China and requirement to handle China regulatory requirementsExperience with Mantas, technology driven case management tool and/or technology will be preferred Experience with multiple differing line of businesses and/or products and services' AML investigative work is desirable
