clinical partnerships in a convenient safe and comfortable patient environmentPOSITION SUMMARYPURPOSEPerforms a variety of duties for the Anesthesia Dept to maintain and make available supplies and equipment for the day to day function of the anesthesia staff Interacts and works with the several hospital departments including Nursing Biomedical Engineering Materials Management Purchasing Central Sterile and Pharmacy Under the direction of the Clinical Manager of Surgical Services the Anesthesia Technician is responsible for the day to day management of the supplies Cleaning the work areas helping facilitate the Anesthesia work loadESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Performs Quality Control Functionsa Sets up all anesthesia carts with supplies and equipment in an accurate and timely mannerb Disinfects anesthesia equipment according to established procedures in a timely mannerc Maintains an inventory of non disposable supplies sterile disposable and clean items to ensure par levels are kept at all timesd Restocks carts daily and workrooms twice a week supplies medications in OR OB and AMUe Delivers appropriate materials and specialized equipment to operating rooms as requestedf Restocks and cleans anesthesia cabinets supply carts and epiduralspinal carts in all anesthetizing locations daily OR OB AMUg Ensures obstetrics department is adequately restocked by retrieving necessary suppliesh All carts and machines are cleaned daily Processes instrumentation correctlya Ensures that the proper equipment and materials are available in all anesthetizing locationsb Inventory is current and rotatedc Notifies Clinical Manager Surgical Services Anesthesia Dept and Materials Management of obsolete inventory Coordinates orders through purchasing departmentmiddot Arranges delivery of suppliesmiddot Receives vendors via Purchasing Assists AnesthesiologistsCRNAs with patient carea Assists with patient transfers to and from the OR tableb Assists with monitor placement induction and intubation of patientsc Assists with special procedures including blocks and epiduralsd Assists with patient transport Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his or her responsibilities related to general safety departmentservice safety and specific jobrelated hazardsa Attends all required safety education programsb Provides complete and accurate responses to safety questionsc Operates assigned equipment and performs all procedures in a safe manner as instructedd Maintains work area and equipment in the condition required by department standardse Demonstrates proper body mechanics in all functionsf If managerleader provides for the safety of department employees Follows the hospital exposure control plansbloodborne and airborne pathogensa Demonstrates knowledge of techniques procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipmentb Ensures a safe environment by instituting appropriate control measuresc Attends annual education programs
