We are looking for a dedicated Anesthesia Tech like you to be a part of our team. **Job Summary and Qualifications** Under the direction of the licensed anesthetist and the RN, the Anesthesia Technician provides anesthesia support to the licensed anesthetist during surgical procedures. The Anesthesia Technician anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist through preparation and maintenance of supplies, patient monitoring equipment and anesthesia delivery systems. This includes anticipating anesthesia needs, maintaining stock levels, setting up supplies and equipment, cleaning and storage of equipment, equipment operation, basic troubleshooting and ensuring equipment operation and maintenance. The Anesthesia Technician is an integral member of the perioperative team and he/she works in a collaborative role with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience. The Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in delivering top-notch, patient-centered care by providing essential anesthesia support to the anesthesia clinician during surgical procedures. Their proactive approach to preparing and maintaining supplies, patient monitoring equipment, and anesthesia delivery systems helps anticipate the clinician's needs. As a member of the perioperative team, the Anesthesia Technician collaborates with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience. Prepares and organizes equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetizing locations. Review present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the essential equipment and supplies necessary for routine and challenging cases. Transports and sets up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, EKG cables, ETCO2 lines, pulse oximetry cables, temperature cables, and oxygen tanks/tubing. Assures equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure. Follows department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, contrast media, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area. Performs thorough, prompt room turnover between procedures, including cleaning and disinfection, restocking of anesthesia supplies, and cleaning/storing of anesthesia equipment and instrumentation as needed. Demonstrates proficiency with equipment point-of-use care and transport, including initial bedside decontamination of TEE probe and bronchoscope. Calibrates and troubleshoots minor malfunctions of anesthesia equipment. Removes and reports all damaged or unsafe equipment. Responds promptly to on-call situations as scheduled. **Essential Job Functions:** 1. Anticipates the needs of the licensed anesthetist for regional, epidural and spinal blocks and the induction of general anesthesia through the application of technical knowledge and competence in set-up, operation and troubleshooting of anesthesia delivery systems, monitors and ancillary devices to include the laryngoscope, intubation equipment and IV solution and tubing set-up. 2. Consistently uses aseptic technique, and correctly sets up and prepares needed supplies and equipment for invasive line monitoring. Assists the anesthetist in the preparation and draping for invasive line placement and monitoring. 3. Maintains designated par levels of anesthesia supplies and ensures carts are stocked with immediate use items used for operative procedures. Participates in evaluating new equipment/supplies that pertains to the anesthesia service. 4. Ensures utilized equipment is appropriately cleaned, stored and in proper working order prior to use; performs basic equipment troubleshooting as necessary. Submits work orders in a timely manner for needed maintenance/repairs. Properly cleans and stores equipment after use. Schedules preventative maintenance as required and follows up on completion. 5. Consistently cleans, disinfects, sterilizes and ensures availability of utilized anesthesia equipment according to AORN standards and practices. 6. Works in collaboration with the circulating RN and assists with the placement of non-invasive monitoring devices (blood pressure cuff, EKG leads and pulse oximeter probe), patient transport and positioning, as directed. **Additional Job Functions:** 1. May have access to non-controlled medication storage areas to include the anesthesia boxes or carts that are used in surgical treatment of patient. 2. Trains and orients new staff to the unit as directed. 4. Must learn and comply with System and facility safety policies and rules; must use appropriate safety equipment and procedures at all times; must immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisors; must be familiar with all safety features of equipment, tools or materials encompassed by job duties; and must check with supervisors (prior to job performance) if there is a question as to the safe procedure to be used for any job function. 5. Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules regulations or the Code of Conduct itself. 6.
