Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and inquisitive Analytical Chemist to join our team. In this role, you will determine the physical and chemical properties of compounds using both quantitative and qualitative analyses in physical, organic, or inorganic chemistry. You will perform a variety of chemical tests and use instrumental techniques to provide critical insights. You will work under supervision, following pre-established guidelines and instructions. Your primary focus will be on testing raw materials, outgoing finished products, and conducting failure analysis on returned products to identify issues.
ResponsibilitiesDetermine the physical and chemical properties of compounds through quantitative and qualitative analyses.Perform a variety of chemical tests and utilize instrumental techniques such as FTIR, GCP, ICP, GC-FID, and microscopes.Explain findings and make judgment calls based on data from tests.Conduct failure analysis to identify the root cause of product issues.Record findings in detailed reports and present results to the director.Work independently with high initiative, critical thinking, and attention to detail.Essential SkillsExperience with ICP, Failure Analysis, GPC, PSA, FTIR, GC, FID, and Wet Chemistry.Strong analytical and investigative skills.Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.Proficiency in setting up and performing experiments using the scientific method.Strong lab skills and familiarity with reporting data.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, or Biology.1-2 years of lab experience in the field.Research or internship experience with paints and coatings in a root cause/failure analysis capacity.Work Environment
You will work in a state-of-the-art analytical lab that is very clean and resembles a pharmaceutical lab. The team consists of four other members, and the work pace varies with most tasks being project-based. The working hours are Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The lab environment emphasizes growth and offers a range of career development opportunities within the labs and R&D. No travel is required for this position.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
