Analyst II, Business

We are looking for a Business Analyst (Naval Architect/Marine Engineer) with experience in Ship Plan approval or verification process OR marine classification services such as surveying or construction overseeing activities OR ship design and construction with emphasis on dealing with classification services. 

The candidate should be willing to work with SMEs (ABS Surveyors & Engineers) and various other stakeholders to understand the business needs and requirements, product use cases and translate them to meaningful and relatable test scenarios and test cases.

The candidate will assess software quality through manual verification of functional flows. You will be responsible for finding and reporting bugs and glitches. In this role, the candidate should have a keen eye for detail and excellent communication skills. If you are also competent in executing test cases and are passionate about quality, we’d like to meet you. Ultimately, you will ensure that our products, applications, and systems work correctly.

 

What You Will Do:

Liaise with various ABS Surveyors, Engineers, different stakeholders to understand the business needs.  Review and analyze system specifications.  Get the domain knowledge in depth and identify the business use cases. Need to review test cases from your peers and ensure the quality.  Collaborate with team to develop effective strategies, Test plan and Test cases.  Convert manual test cases / requirements to automated test Workflows to ensure maximum test coverage.  Execute test cases (manual or automated) and analyze results. Report issues in JIRA and ensure closure.  Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle. Identify the root cause of production issues and take a corrective action. Take appropriate Quality decision to reduce the incoming production bugs.

 

What You Will Need:

Education & Experience

10+ years’ experience. Minimum 15 years of full-time education. Degree from Marine industry.

 Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of Marine plan approval process or ship survey practices to understand ABS business needs.  Knowledge of Ship design and construction activities with preference to shipyard experience  Ability to work across multiple teams and provide continuous support to different team members.  Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.  Experience working with Cloud JIRA (Xray Test management) or similar. Analytical skills – Evaluate and examine all possible scenarios.  Problem solving - Ability to suggest new ideas and solutions.  Attention to detail – Requires detailed analysis to find ways to improve developed products.  Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle would be an added advantage.  Willingness to explore and learn new concepts both in the Marine and IT industry.  Experience working in Agile (Scrum) methodology. Manual Testing (Smoke/Sanity/Regression) Test Case writing skill. JIRA 

Reporting Relationships:

Will report to a senior level engineer or technical manager and has no direct reports. 

 

Working Conditions:

The work environment will primarily be an air-conditioned office setting requiring the employee to sit for prolonged periods while concentrating on a computer screen.
