What is the opportunity?

Primary focus of role is on day-to-day deliverables, developing solutions based upon subject expertise, and occasionally representing the department or function at a broader level. This person is able to document procedures and process flows independently, perform user testing for process enhancements and is seen as a go-to-person for day questions from other areas

The analyst will play a key role in i) obtaining independent valuations and returns associated with hedge fund positions in the trading portfolio; ii) perform all aspects of alternative asset operations including subscriptions, redemptions and fee calculations related to hedge fund transactions; iii) provide operational support for Physical Settlements, IPS and Muni-GIC desks as required.  Ensure all responsibilities are carried out in accordance with RBC Code of Conduct, RBC Values and Guiding Principles ensuring adherence to RBC Privacy principles.

What will you do?

Day-to-day focus is on resolution of complex problems or transactions, where expertise is required to interpret against policies, guidelines or processes. Roles at this level would usually have full ownership for one or more processes, reports, procedures or products, and may also be considered analytical or procedural \"experts\" representing a unit or team on cross-function process or project deliverablesCommunicating with hedge fund managers and administrators in order to independently value hedge fund returns and valuations;Verify and obtain sign-off on product related transactions;Prepare and confirm fee calculations due to hedge funds and counterparties;Maintain statements received from hedge funds;Support various front office teams with respect to hedge fund prices and valuations;Maintain information related to hedge funds and ensure that the proper parties receive the relevant information;Prepare/Review Sophis Daily Activity Report;Oversee Technology Initiatives;Laisse with both internal and external auditors to facilitate SOX and financial audits;Coordinate daily funding needs for AAG structured products business;Coordinate and process  transactions across multiple systemsTrain and supervise new staff as requiredAssist with ensuring weekly/monthly team objectives are metReview and update wire instructionsCoordinate outgoing wire paymentsIdentify and advise on incoming cash transactionsSupport IPS and Muni-GIC businesses as requiredProvide support to Physical Settlements including but not limited to:Physical Receive and DeliversBalance NSCC End of Day SettlementMaintain R&D Overnight Box

What you need to succeed?

A bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or Economics;Reasonable understanding of financial markets and products;Strong written and oral communication skills;Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Access;Experience with SophisKeen attention to detailWillingness to obtain Series 99

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $70k-$80k depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
