About the Alumni Engagement Officer Role:
The Alumni Engagement Officer at Humber Polytechnic is a pivotal member of the Advancement and Alumni team, dedicated to strengthening the relationship between the institution and its alumni community. Reporting to the Manager of Alumni Engagement, this role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating key alumni engagement programs that foster lasting connections and cultivate strong, ongoing relationships with internal college partners and external community stakeholders. The officer will lead initiatives like Humber Alumni Connect, Alumni Marketplace, Alumni Stories, Contests, Spring/Fall Convocation, and other engagement programs, playing a vital role in driving alumni involvement and loyalty.
In addition, the Alumni Engagement Officer will leverage social media and digital platforms to enhance engagement through targeted digital content. The officer will create and execute dynamic content and campaigns that resonate with alumni on multiple platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. This role also serves as the alumni data champion, ensuring that valuable insights are gathered and used to shape engagement strategies that drive long-term success.
Collaboration is key in this role, as the officer will work with key internal partners to ensure alumni initiatives are aligned with the broader goals of the institution. The officer will actively engage with alumni across multiple channels, providing responsive communication and building relationships that reflect the strategic vision for Humber’s alumni relations. Through innovative program development and a data-driven approach, the Alumni Engagement Officer will contribute to creating a vibrant and connected alumni community at Humber.
Alumni Engagement Initiatives
Design, implementation and evaluation of key alumni engagement programs that foster lasting connections between Humber graduates and the institution. The officer will lead engagement initiatives, including New Grad Engagement Campaigns and the Humber Alumni Connect program.
Social Media Digital Content
Develop and deploy social media campaigns to engage alumni across platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and emerging channels. Create compelling, story-driven content, video and digital assets and presentations that strengthens and informs alumni and community connections and enhances Humber’s brand. Ensure content is optimized for each platform, following best practices for accessibility and industry standards.
Generates ideas, writes, and produces professional-quality social media content aimed at growing engagement on Humber Alumni’s social media channels, driving traffic to the Alumni website, content and additional Humber pages, and informing Humber’s donor and alumni community; Leverage public-facing channels through organic and paid methods to market alumni programs and events, as well as develop initiatives to strengthen alumni, community and current and prospective student connections; Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to develop/source creative assets and curate user-generated content; Write briefs, draft messaging, film, and edit videos for Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts; appear on camera, provide voiceovers, and capture video content using mobile devices; Partner with faculties and departments to promote key initiatives, ensuring the integration of social media best practices and recommended actions; Research, fact-check, and edit content to ensure accuracy and credibility before publication while remaining on brand; Manage a social media calendar to schedule and publish content; Implement analytics, accessibility features (e.g., srt files, alt text), and provide live event coverage, including filming, interviews, and real-time posting; Monitor and engage with social media audiences, including other Humber channels, and respond to inquiries promptly and manage sensitive comments or crises with sound judgment, escalating when necessary; Engage, encourage dialogue, and respond to social media queries and concerns with a customer service focus; Leverage user-generated content by seeking permissions and contributing creative ideas to enhance Humber Alumni’s/community’s messaging; Build and run social media advertising campaigns through Meta Ads Manager, and optimizing campaigns based on performance insights; Stay informed on the latest social media trends and industry innovations to drive cutting-edge content and engagement strategies.Data Management Insights
Act as the lead advocate for alumni data, ensuring accurate capture, maintenance, and analysis of engagement information. Leverage data insights to refine alumni engagement strategies and measure program effectiveness.

Education
