ALLIED TRADES WORKER (TITLE 32)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This National Guard position is for an ALLIED TRADES WORKER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1222000 and is part of the FL SMO, National Guard. Responsibilities As an ALLIED TRADES WORKER (TITLE 32), WG-5801-8, you will perform complicated skilled trades tasks in any Allied Trades Shop. Operate various welding equipment to include wire welders, torches, stick welders, plasma cutters to perform minor welding tasks following accepted shop practices. Use jigs and fixtures in clamping pieces together to assemble and set up the part to be welded. Repair mobile equipment metal body components such as fenders, panels, hooks, truck beds. Straighten, knock out dents and creases, sand and finish damaged parts. Replace broken or damaged windshields and windows. Paint a wide variety of vehicles using standard methods such as brushing, rolling, and spraying by the use of coating materials that are prepared according to directions, and by the application of coating techniques that assure surface is fully coated, protected, and free from drips and runs. Prepare surfaces by sanding and wire brushing. Thin, stir and mix coating material. Apply coating materials with brushes, rollers, or spray guns. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work assignments require light to moderate physical effort. Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise handles items weighing up to 40 pounds. Occasionally handles items greater than 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavy items. Works in a sitting position for extended periods. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping are required. Occasionally climbs and works in high places. WORKING CONDITIONS: Majority of work is performed in an environment, which is well lighted, heated, and ventilated. Some work may be performed under field conditions. Subject to normal hazards of the trade skills to include the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, shocks, and broken bones, and serious burns. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709" and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard; and Category 4: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida National Guard and are willing to become T32 Dual Status technicians. First consideration will be given to Category 1. PCS: Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive MAY be authorized. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses, Recruitment or Relocation Incentive will be granted ONLY after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Florida National Guard. FLARNG BUS Code NG5022: This position is "included" in the bargaining unit and eligible for labor organization representation. MILITARY GRADES: Enlisted/Warrant Officer; E1 thru WO1. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and can use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: WG-08 must have 12 months experience or training using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs. Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories. Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments. Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships. Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
