Establish a strong, sold line of communication with all levels of employees and external business partners. All employees are expected to perform and communicate openly, effectively, and professionally with staff members, consumers, and external business partners. Responsibilities Coordinates with AIDS-Alabama Navigator as required to satisfy any and all grant requirements. Solely responsible for the performance of the Navigator function/program.Works independently to educate the broader community about the Health Insurance Marketplace, Medicaid, CHIP/ALL Kid, and other health insurance programs. In a culturally competent manner, assist individuals in enrolling in the Health Insurance Marketplace through one of the following ways: utilizing the online websites, paper applications, and accessing the phone-based application system.Objectively help consumers choose between available health insurance plans.Independently determines the need, plans, and participates in community-wide events to educate on the Health Insurance Marketplace.Creates partnerships with community-based organizations, businesses, and partners to reach out to potential enrollees. Stay informed on all policies and procedures that have to do with implementation of the Health Insurance Marketplace.Keep meticulous records including consent forms, applications, and statistics.Set up and deliver presentations on enrollment to individuals and community partners.Undergo all trainings as assigned by U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and AIDS-Alabama. Be willing to travel and have flexible scheduling to allow for periodic events/work outside of normal business hours.Will work with other Navigators throughout the state to help manage events and navigator workload. This position will be working with underserved populations from different social and economic background.All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required. Strong organizational skills and self-motivation required. Candidate must exhibit ability to multi-task and take initiative with projects. Must have basic command of Microsoft Office, computers, e-mail, and the internet. Must be willing to travel throughout a multi-county area in personal vehicle-Mileage is reimbursed. Must have valid driver license, personal automobile insurance, and a good driving record.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

 Schedule: Work hours are full-time and may occasionally include nights and/or weekends; varies based on the needs of the consumers, the consumer’s family, and the Agency.

 

Environmental: This job requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions and in close physical proximity to other people in a corporate office setting. At times, this job requires working exposed to sounds and noise levels that are distracting.

Physical: May lift up to 50lbs occasionally; long periods of standing, stooping, bending, and sitting.   Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.  Good manual and finger dexterity.  Good communication skills. Physical presence onsite is essential. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range.  Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

        Psychological:  Responsible for work outcomes and results of other workers; important to coordinate or lead others in accomplishing work activities in this job. Awareness of high level of confidentiality. Able to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintain them over time. Able to meet deadlines and schedules.
