POSITION OVERVIEW
This Position will perform a variety of moderately complex engineering and technical tasks in support of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system for the Baggage Handling System (SCADA-BHS). Supports 24/7 real time BHS control system integrity and ensures the highest operational reliability and system availability. Leads the daily maintenance of the system to accomplish the best performance communicates with dispatch, engineers and field crews, performs troubleshooting, problem analysis and resolution as required. Coordinates and analyzes the real-time control system user’s request develops and implements enhancements or modifications requested in a timely manner. Communicates systems activity status to customers and management. Perform application programming activities including coding, testing, debugging, documentation and system modifications. Configures and programs process control applications such as Human Machine Interfaces (HMI), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions. Updates, maintains and document security controls.
Enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring data security profiles. Respond to after hour requests for remote support of the BHS. Lead, train and provide guidance and work oversight of others.

This position requires a Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Provides input and assists with operations and maintenance and technical budgets associated with improvements and enhancements to SCADA and other control systems. Works with Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project managers to ensure SCADA systems are updated and tested to support project schedule; ensures that all telemetry and controls are available and accurate. Monitors the implementation of the Advanced Network applications to ensure efficient and reliable remote systems administration and troubleshooting, provides for emergency backup system, and plans to exercise it on a regular basis. Provides technical consultation on complex system issues, making recommendations and suggestions to management and users and interacting closely with third-party technology vendors to keep up with the changing technology environment. Supports efforts to keep up with the airport industry to comply with Federal, State, and Local regulations and Automation (ISA) standards and regulatory requirements.
