The scope of the internship will revolve around managing all steps of airport projects from planning to completion over the course of the summer. The intern will also participate in a rotating shadowing program to gain insight and exposure to all areas of an airport, including operations, finance, business management, and facilities and maintenance. This internship will be located at the Boise Airport, working up to 40 hours a week, with the ability to work a flexible schedule depending on project needs. This internship will require the use of a city vehicle and requires a valid driver's license and clean driving record. This is an excellent opportunity for a student interested in a career in Project Management, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management. No previous project management experience is required. Essential Functions Airport Project Management Intern + Take ownership of an airport improvement project from planning through the execution stage. + Provide an active role and use critical judgment in the development of all project deliverables. + Ensure quality and timely submission of all project deliverables and documentation assigned by the project manager. + Assist project manager to ensure project requirements, standards, and deliverables are followed. + Support project manager with reporting on the project’s budget, risk management, quality assurance, status and health. + Proactively communicate with stakeholders for each assigned project. + Provide design and specification review, data analytics, and reporting as required. + Participate in a rotating shadowing program to increase exposure to various areas of airport operations, finance, business management, and facilities and maintenance. + Flexibility of Scope: The scope of work may increase based on the intern’s comfort and effectiveness. + Access to Experienced Staff: This position will be working directly with airport project managers and engineering staff. This is an excellent opportunity to ask questions and gain exposure related to engineering and construction related principles you may encounter in the field. Requirements Minimum Requirements: + Undergraduate or graduate student (degree-seeking) enrolled in an accredited college or university, or recent grad within the past 12 months. + Preferred Major: Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Aviation Management, Planning, or related degree program. + Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. + Proficiency in MS Office products including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Capability to think critically, problem solve, adapt and concisely communicate. + Provide high attention to detail. + Ability to work independently with general guidelines under minimal supervision. + Ability to participate in a variety of tasks involving multiple levels of a large municipal organization. + Successful candidates for this position will be self-motivated, inquisitive, and reliable.
