POSITION OVERVIEW:
Duties: Provide day-to-day supervision and direction to a team of operational staff, who are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the traveling public, City of Austin employees, and neighboring communities of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, by recognizing and responding to violations of local, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
Ensure compliance with Part 139 through coordination and monitoring of all Airside functions to ensure work is performed in a consistent manner with airport policies and procedures, regulations, and in accordance with airport standards.
Coordinate daily Airside activities with the Airport Airside Operations Manager overseeing all shift activities. Coordinate IROP activities with the Airport Duty Manager.

Audits inspection reports to ensure all required inspections are being completed, findings and appropriate corrective actions documented, and follow-up inspections are performed. Supports the Airport Duty Manager in managing, coordinating, and resolving AUS emergencies such as alerts, severe weather, irregular operation, security breaches, and other events affecting airport operations in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan and National Incident Management System (NIMS) methodology; and serves as airport field representative until relieved by supervisory authority. Contributes to planning meetings for airfield activity; and conducts audits of operational activity and airport facilities on and near the AOA to evaluate team performance in maintaining compliance as it pertains to policy, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Identifies and anticipates operational and safety concerns by inspecting airport facilities and operating areas and monitoring radio communications; ensures timely reporting of hazards and provides guidance and suggestions for mitigation; and ensures enforcement of airport safety policies and procedures. Provides recommendations on changes to airport policies and procedures. Reviews distributed Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) for accuracy and compliance with AC 150/5200-28 and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Job Order (JO) 7930.2. Initiates communication with airlines, tenants, and airport personnel to resolve problems pertaining to airside operations and to explain airport policy.
