Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC LEADER, Position Description Number PDD2771000 and is part of the Mississippi National Guard. Responsibilities As a AIRCRAFT PROPELLER MECHANIC LEADER, WL-8801-10, you will sead three or more Aircraft Propeller Mechanics, WG-8810-10. In addition, performs journeyman duties involving the maintenance, removal, installation, inspection, troubleshooting, repair and testing of aircraft rotor and propeller systems. The organizational location of this position is: AVCRAD. MAJOR DUTIES: 1. On a regular and recurring basis, leads a minimum of 3 aircraft propeller mechanics, performing work on aircraft rotor and propeller systems. Monitors the work of assigned personnel, sets the pace, passes along assignments, and assures that materials, tools, equipment, and stock are available. Works along with aircraft propeller mechanics and specialist personnel performing journeyman work as required. Insures that assigned personnel are fully utilized and work is accomplished in accordance with established time frames and priorities. Checks work in progress and/or upon completion for compliance with the supervisor's instructions, appropriate technical orders, etc. Serves as a technical advisor by answering questions regarding appropriate procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Ensures that safety, housekeeping, security, and other environmental rules are followed. Advises the supervisor of overall work operations, status, and progress of work, causes for delays, problems encountered, and individual performance (e.g., additional on-the-job training requirements for individual employees). As requested by the supervisor, provides functional planning for the inspection docks. On a daily basis, recommends adjustments in work schedules to provide optimum utilization of personnel in support of functional requirements. 2. Performs the full range of shop work. Performs in-process and final inspection, prior to the clearing of status symbols ensuring work is completed correctly. Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions. Prepares for, and participates in, various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. 3. May participate in aerial flights, which are defined by applicable Army publications for Maintenance Test Flights, for the purpose of observing, recording, and diagnosing malfunctions with digital test equipment, or otherwise assisting in determining the performance of aircraft components. May serve time performing on-the-job training. Evaluates training effectiveness. May be required to serve on maintenance assistance teams throughout supported region. 4. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Military Grades: E5-E8 For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. Wear of the military uniform is MANDATORY. Qualifications NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. MILITARY MEMBERS WITH BONUSES: Upon acceptance of a military technician position military members who are currently receiving a military Reenlistment/Extension Bonus (REB) or GI Bill-SR Kicker may lose incentive eligibility and may be subject to termination or suspension of incentive (includes indefinite and temporary technicians on assignment for more than 180 days in any continuous 12-month period). GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training that has provided the ability to perform assembly and disassembly operations and make prescribed modifications to aircraft propeller assemblies and their components in accordance with technical specifications, procedures and requirements. Experience using hand and power tools common to the trade. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess at least 18 months of experience or training performing standard, routine assembly and disassembly operations and making prescribed modifications to aircraft propellers, assemblies, and accessories.Experience or training performing maintenance overhaul, troubleshooting, testing, and repair of aircraft propellers, components, for rotary wing aircraft. Experience determining maintenance needed from work orders, inspection reports, historical record, and by own diagnosis. NOTES TO CANDIDATES: a.
