The SIAP SIAGA Program is an Australia-Indonesia disaster risk management partnership from 2019 to 2027. The program aims to enhance Indonesia’s capacity to prevent, prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters while also strengthening cooperation between Australia and Indonesia on regional humanitarian issues. Additionally, SIAP SIAGA fosters the implementation of Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) principles and integrates Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into the execution of Disaster Resilient Villages (DRV).
To achieve its goals, SIAP SIAGA aims to accomplish the following intermediate outcomes:
1. Improved coherence of the disaster management system, including workflows and decision-making processes.
2. Intergovernmental clarity on ways of working and protocols are improved to support effective disaster management at all levels of government and in communities.
3. Improve the quality of information and analysis for targeted communications within government and with the public.
The SIAP SIAGA Program operates at regional, national, and subnational levels through collaboration primarily with the National Disaster Management Authority of Indonesia (BNPB) and other government ministries, including the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA), the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (BAPPENAS), the Coordinating Ministry of Human Development and Culture (Kemenko PMK), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), and sub-national disaster management authorities (BPBD), along with various local government agencies and civil society organizations (CSOs). The SIAP SIAGA program also works in several Indonesian provinces: Bali, East Java, Nusa Tenggara Timur, and Nusa Tenggara Barat.
About The Role
The Communications & Public Information Coordinator position is responsible for supporting and facilitating initiatives that align with the implementation of SIAP SIAGA's Communication and Public Diplomacy Strategy. This includes systematically collecting, organising, and managing public information dissemination efforts. The Coordinator will be an integral role in engaging internal and external stakeholders, which may involve working with key government ministries, mass media outlets, various DFAT-funded programs, and other related partners. Equally important, this position is responsible for overseeing subcontracted vendors that contribute to the initiatives of the Communication and Public Information unit. The incumbent will report directly to the Lead for Communications and Public Information.
Specific Responsibilities
The primary duties of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assisting in the coordination, monitoring, and execution of SIAP SIAGA’s Communications and Public Diplomacy Strategy and related activities.
• Facilitating collaboration with various stakeholders, including community organizations, government representatives, partners, and international and regional entities.
• Aiding in the scheduling and preparation for the production of communications materials and knowledge products in close collaboration with various internal teams to gather content and information.
• Supporting the planning, preparation, coordination, and execution of Public Information initiatives, which include various knowledge-sharing events and media briefings.
• Overseeing the administrative and operational procedures related to communication and public information efforts.
• Monitoring and managing sub-contracted vendors (such as strategic partners and advisors, panel vendors, etc.) to ensure compliance with administrative requirements and to maintain high-quality outputs.
• Taking inventory of, and overseeing communication materials, including merchandise, branding items, publications, etc., at both the national and provincial levels.
• Ensuring that all deliverables are made responsibly and in accordance with DFAT’s public diplomacy guidelines.
• Performing additional tasks and responsibilities as needed.

Key Selection Criteria
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field (Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Information, Public Relations, or similar).
Skill and Experience:
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record in a related field, preferably involving international development programs (particularly those funded by DFAT), journalism, or knowledge management.
• Demonstrated proficiency in producing various Communications and/or Knowledge products.
• Strong interpersonal communication and coordination skills, with a proven ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Experience or skills in mass media management, along with an existing media network, are preferred.
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively as part of a large team in a supporting role. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, both English and Bahasa Indonesia
• Familiarity with DFAT processes and procedures is preferred but not essential.
• Flexibility, creativity, and ability to maintain a rapid and demanding pace of work.
Input and Location
This is a one year Fixed-term position with possible extension based on performance and depending on program needs.  The work will be a combination of office-based and remote tasks. Travel to the project locations will be required for specific assignments during the contract period.
