Job Summary

The Utilities AMP Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and management of utility systems at a project site or campus, including electricity, water, gas, and other essential services. Under limited supervision, this role ensures that utility systems are managed efficiently and safely, meeting operational, regulatory, and client requirements. The manager will coordinate all aspects of utility service delivery, from scheduling and resource allocation to system maintenance and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of utility operations, safety regulations, and project-specific needs. This position requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments and stakeholders.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate utility systems operations for the site or campus, including electrical, gas, water, and other services.

Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure uninterrupted utility service delivery.

Oversee utility system inspections and troubleshoot operational issues as they arise.

Supervise a team of utility operators, ensuring proper training, adherence to safety procedures, and performance standards.

Monitor system performance and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reliability.

Maintain compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and applicable laws.

Prepare and manage budgets for utility operations, ensuring cost-effective management of resources.

Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and other external parties for utility-related projects or repairs.

Conduct regular safety audits, ensuring all personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety measures are followed.

Report on utility system status, maintenance schedules, and emergency response activities to upper management.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited university.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in utility operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.

Comprehensive knowledge of utility system operations, maintenance, and safety protocols for electric, gas, and water systems.

Experience managing and coordinating complex projects, including maintenance schedules and vendor coordination.

Proficient in utility management software and systems, with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

Professional certifications in utility management, safety, or project management.

Familiarity with AFIT courses, such as WMGT 131, WMGT 301, or WMGT 417, and their application in utility management.
