Job Summary
The Deputy MWR Manager will assist in the oversight and management of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality recreational, leisure, and wellness services to the military community. This role supports the MWR Manager in facility operations, program development, and financial management. The Deputy Manager will work closely with staff and customers to improve service delivery and ensure all activities meet health and wellness objectives. This individual will also assist in identifying opportunities to enhance revenue generation and increase participation in various recreational programs. The Deputy MWR Manager will play a key role in daily operations, staff supervision, and compliance with applicable regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities
Assist the MWR Manager in overseeing all operations of recreational, leisure, and wellness programs and facilities.
Support the development and implementation of programs that improve customer health and wellness, including fitness, leisure, and educational activities.
Supervise and guide MWR staff, providing training, scheduling, and performance evaluations to ensure the team’s success.
Help manage the operational budget and identify opportunities to increase income and reduce costs through program and facility improvements.
Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, policies, and safety standards in all MWR operations and activities.
Assist in the development and execution of marketing and outreach strategies to increase program participation and awareness.
Monitor the maintenance and repair needs of MWR facilities, coordinating with relevant departments to ensure timely resolution.
Collect and analyze customer feedback to identify areas for improvement and adjust services to meet community needs.
Support the MWR Manager in managing vendor relationships and contracts related to facility services, supplies, and programming.
Provide backup for the MWR Manager in their absence, ensuring continuity of services and operations.
Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience in managing or assisting with DoD recreation, leisure, or club operations, or at least 5 years of relevant civilian experience.
Bachelor’s degree in health Promotion, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field.
Previous supervisory experience, including the ability to lead teams, manage staff, and handle performance evaluations.
Proven ability to work with budgets, manage resources, and track financial performance.
CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain them upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in health Promotion, Exercise Science, or Kinesiology.
Experience in revenue-generating activities such as organizing events or programs to increase participation and income.
Familiarity with DoD MWR regulations and the ability to apply them to daily operations.
