The TeamThe Autonomous Haulage team is responsible for supporting, maintaining and optimizing our world class Autonomous Haulage system; ensuring the continued reliability of operations for our customers, their clients and the world at large. The AHS team works collaboratively with our clients and are embedded in mine site operations. This integrated approach allows for greater optimization of operations and seamless, effective communication with the larger fleet management and mine operation systems.
Job PurposeAs a Technical Specialist, you will work as part of a skilled team to deploy, troubleshoot, maintain, and support the FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System, allowing our clients to improve their mining operations with Komatsu’s self-driving heavy haul trucks. You will act as the front-line contact for our clients in the mining industry, providing on-site technical and operational support.
The ideal candidate for this position will be team-oriented, and have skills and experience in a technical field, with networking/hardware installation and repair experience being a significant advantage. As well, you will know how to navigate a variety of operating systems and will be familiar with ticketing systems, networking, wireless communications, SQL/MySQL databases, programming/scripting, electrical systems, and be comfortable working in unconventional environments. Experience working with a variety of policies and procedures is also an asset.

Installation and support of the Komatsu FrontRunner Autonomous Haulage System and related components. Ensuring the maximum amount of system and component uptime, in compliance with our Service Level Agreements with our clients. Installing and configuring mobile field computers using Linux. Wireless and wired network installation and support, primarily using Cisco wireless mesh networks. Hardware and software installation, troubleshooting/configuration, and repair/replacement. Log file gathering and deterministic analysis. Active operational monitoring, to identify issues or needs before they are presented to us. Creating, updating, maintaining onsite document libraries, for hardware, software, and project management use. Researching and developing new methods, processes, and improvements for our support capabilities and gathering feedback and recommendations from stakeholders for improvements to the system. Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant work experience, in Computer Science, I.T. support, Mining /Electrical/Industrial Engineering. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills Proficiency with MS Office 365 suite of software. Ability to prioritize and work effectively while under tight deadlines. Knowledge of Mining operations an asset. Unconventional working conditions, occasionally in harsher environments (snow, cold, mud, etc.).
