Performs related duties as required. **DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:** NOTE: The following are the duties performed by employees in this classification. Obtain capillary, venous, and arterial blood specimens; perform all clinical chemistry, hematology, serologic, transfusion services, microbiology, and other body fluid testing (based on their departmental training); evaluate the validity of results, report and maintain necessary records. 2. Assists in calibration and maintenance of instruments. 3. Prepares reagents and stains according to the procedure; checks quality control data on daily basis for accuracy. 4. Reports results promptly and responsible for issuance of correct reports. 5. Responsible for cleaning, maintenance, and correct operation of equipment; checks and requests supplies needed for operation of department; reports problems in equipment, methods, personnel, and quality control to supervisors. 6. Assists clinical laboratory scientists, laboratory assistants, phlebotomists, and front office when required; reviews pending list and keeps it current; may assist in training new employees; assists in directing workflow when required and assures pending list is current. **MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:** Education:Bachelor's degree (B.S. /M.A.). Minimum Experience:One year of directly related experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
