Aerospace Project Engineer

Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on todays most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. Janicki Industries continues to lead the market with both innovations and abilities alike. At Janicki, we work on complex parts and assemblies for aerospace and space exploration markets.  We are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our team.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position is located on-site in Layton, Utah.

The following essential job functions are performed as a Project Engineer:

Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in project development of manufacturing plans, schedules, and quality plans. Promote and execute quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents and reports Review customers purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are met Complete Inspection Plans in conjunction with Project Planning and in coordination with Project Management Verify compliance to codes, standards and customer contracts Performs in process and final inspections on customer ordered projects as necessary Organize and monitor Corrective Actions, assist to evaluate and determine Root Cause and Corrective Action Plans Must be able to comply with Safety, 5S, AS9100 and Nadcap Standards and Practices Develops detailed Production Build Plan packages based upon customer process specifications and engineering drawings Maintains heightened awareness of the project schedule for each project as it moves through the value stream in order to meet key project deadlines Facilitates communication and consultation with Program Management, Operations, QA and HR Assists Project Managers in the execution of a project plan, including the development of Work Orders, materials procurement and organization, preparation of schedules and budgets, and various other project activities. Behavior: The incumbent must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.  The incumbent shall, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors. Being at work on time and maintaining good attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering is required. 3+ years experience in a manufacturing environment. Must have effective verbal and written communication skills in the English language as well as proficcency in Microsoft Office products. Must show a profitiency in technical writing through previous ecperience in producing testing plans, final reports, process instructions, or other equivalent activities. Experience with CATIA and NX CAD software is a plus. Focus, self-motivation and initiative is a must. Exceptional communication and presentation skills through written, verbal, and graphical mediums. Organizational skills to support management of multiple tasks and activities. Experience and interest in problem solving and improving processes. Demonstrated attention to detail.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Salary range for this role is between $68,000 - $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off-shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
