The Advanced Practice Provider I, under direction, provides primary health care to students of Tarleton State University. Acts in accordance with relevant licensing boards and local, State, and Federal laws regulating Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
This position is primarily located in Stephenville, Texas, and will require occasional travel to the Tarleton Fort Worth Campus. Work hours are typically Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm but may be adjusted as work requirements indicate. Must be able to work remotely at the request of the University.
Responsibilities:
80% Provides primary health care to students, which includes medical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications or treatments, counseling or education regarding health maintenance and disease/injury prevention, and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
5% Recognizes the need for consultation and/or referral for illness/injury outside the scope of practice/expertise for an advanced nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
5% Completes legible, accurate, and appropriate documentation of patients’ encounters in medical records in a timely manner.
5% Acts in accordance with all relevant licensing boards, local, state and federal laws regulating nurse practitioners or physician assistants.
5% Serves on clinical committees, participates in accreditation processes, assists with in-service education, and assists in preparation of educational materials and other activities supportive of the mission of student health center.
Education and Experience:
-Successful completion of an accredited educational program for Physician Assistants; or
-Successful completion of an approved advanced practice nursing educational program at or beyond the master’s degree level.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
-Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
-Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses:
-Eligible to be licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas; candidate must be licensed prior to start date; or
-Eligible to be licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) in the State of Texas; candidate must be licensed prior to start date.
-Licensure must be maintained for continued employment.
[*Note: PA/NPs are required to provide proof to the TMB/TBN that they’ve passed a national certification exam in order for the board to issue their license]

The target base annual salary may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
