Posting Summary Rutgers The State University is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) within the Outpatient of Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare.


The primary purpose of the Advanced Practice Nurse (Primary Care) position is to serve as an expert in the delivery of advanced nursing care onsite and offsite to individuals impacted by Psychosis. The APN functions collaboratively with physician of protocol for prescriptive practice. Works collaboratively within the treatment team to provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and assessment services to clients. Demonstrates competency according to the American Nursing Association Advanced Practice Standards for Psychiatric Nursing.

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Demonstrates a commitment to maintain the standard of clinical practice adapted by the American Nurses Association and ensures that nursing care meets the national standards for the Clinical Nurse Specialist. Engages in collaborative practice with the physician of protocol for prescriptive practices. Follows protocols for prescriptive practice. Coordinates treatment with members of the treatment team. Delivers high quality care as rated by supervisor, collaborating physician and patient feedback. Takes initial history, prepares psychosocial evaluation and treatment plans, including management of risk. Consults with physicians, psychiatrist, and other clinical staff members as necessary.
