Advanced Polysomnography Tech (36 hrs, night)
Description: Job Summary:
Perform sleep studies, monitoring patients during all stages of sleep; trial therapeutic interventions and evaluate their effectiveness with all studies conducted at KPs Sleep Center.

Essential Responsibilities:

Measure and observe sleep and EEG dysfunctions by utilizing various monitors simultaneously in a safe and effective manner. This requires use of computerized sleep lab system.
Utilizing protocols developed by Sleep Medical Directors and PSGTs, provide therapeutic interventions for observed sleep dysfunction, measure and evaluate the results of interventions and make necessary adjustments resulting in a prescription for durable medical equipment.
Take a detailed sleep history from the patient and screen patients for appropriateness of testing. Participate in outpatient monthly sleep study reviews.
Educate patients to testing and therapeutic procedures. Maintain an effective rapport with patient to facilitate patient compliance with procedures. Provide appropriate discharge instructions.
Perform safe and correct operation of equipment. Provide required equipment maintenance. Exhibit comprehensive knowledge and skill in interfacing computer-based information system and patient monitoring systems.
Maintain necessary quality and quantity control programs. Utilize a department specific quality assurance program in collaboration with the medical director and supervisor. Periodically review procedures and revise to reflect hanges in practice and standards.
Process all data obtained from sleep studies and analyze data. Prepare standardized report for physician review.
Monitor patients for all life-threatening events. Recognize and obtain medical assistance as required. Record and report all unusual occurrences. Maintain patient records and confidentiality per standard procedure. Perform other duties as requested. Basic Qualifications: Experience

Two (2) years of experience in a polysomnography lab.
Two (2) years of experience with diagnostic monitoring.
Education
N/A License, Certification, Registration Polysomnographic Technologist License (Oregon) AND Polysomnographic Technologist Certificate       OR
Respiratory Care Practitioner License (Oregon) Basic Life Support
Additional Requirements:
Thorough knowledge of polysomnography.Polysomnography training.Comprehensive knowledge of computer applications for diagnostic testing.Computer operations.Operation of all monitoring systems utilized in sleep lab.Effective communication skills.Operation of medical gas systems. Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years of experience with computer-based diagnostic programs.Two (2) years of clinical patient experience.Advanced knowledge of cardiopulmonary physiology related to respiratory and sleep.Computer operations.A.S. degree in health sciences.
