Advanced Manufacturing Global Project Manager

Hexcel is currently seeking an Advanced Manufacturing Global Project Manager for our Salt Lake City, UT, USA location. This position can also be located in Seguin, TX, Casa Grande, AZ, Decatur, AL, or Pottsville, PA.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Manage capital projects (up to $50M), which would include, but not be limited to, equipment and process design, scoping and estimating of the projects, authoring capital expenditure requests, leading multi-functional project teams, providing cost and schedule control, identifying required resources, and coordinating between all affected parties.Collaborate with internal and external technical experts globally to identify new, innovative processes, equipment, and automation opportunities, including MIT, Future Factory, and R&D. Design, develop, and implement modern manufacturing machinery to enhance production capabilities, efficiency, and overall value.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, quality, and cost. Coordinate with the local technical team to ensure key project and site objectives are met.Provide technical and tactical expertise to support productivity and development of sites globally, including periodic travel to Hexcel and non-Hexcel facilities. Work with site personnel to efficiently and effectively execute projects with minimal impact to existing operations. Communicate project status with senior employees and project stakeholders; develop and deliver formal presentations to management as necessary.Work with Hexcel Sourcing to implement MSAs, EPAs, etc. with providers; develop SOWs to include, but not be limited to, detailed engineering and installation specifications, site and factory acceptance criteria, detailed project and payment schedules. Manage and support the procurement process for capital expenditure projects, including interface and negotiations with suppliers of equipment and services.Develop proposals, SOWs, and RFQ’s with Hexcel Sourcing for the purposes of scoping or estimating capital investments; work vendors and/or contractors to optimize system performance.Prepare and maintain Engineering drawings, including Engineering and Process Flow Diagrams, Assembly Drawings, and Detailed Design Drawings. Design and/or troubleshoot systems related to instruments, controls, mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer.Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions. Provide oversight for commissioning and startup of new or modified equipment; ensure thorough review and transfer of process ownership relevant parties or facility following commissioning and sign-off.Ensure safe working practices are carried out to comply with site standards on health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

Degree in technical field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field or related area or a combination of education and related experience. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and fulfill responsibilities associated with project engineering teams, including financial evaluation. Manufacturing experience required. Knowledge of a range of engineering disciplines (instrumentation, electrical, civil, mechanical, and chemical). Demonstrated ability to both work within and lead multi-disciplinary teams.Demonstrated ability to perform safety analysis, especially HAZOP or FEMA.Experience in developing and reading of mechanical design drawings, including drafting in CAD-based software.Oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and superior organizational abilities.Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, and meet deadlines. Ability to command the personal respect and confidence of colleagues and customers for technical capability.International experience and knowledge of European languages preferred.Experience with Six Sigma improvement principles. Demonstrated experience with mechanical engineering design principles. Capable of performing engineering calculations related to system dynamics, forces, thermal analysis, fluid mechanics, etc.
