What’s the role?  

As an Advanced Development & Design Intern you will join the team at Zeiss X-Ray Microscopy (XRM), a world leader in high-resolution X-ray imaging devices. The Advanced Development and Design (ADD) team within XRM is responsible for long-term research into the technologies underlying our X-ray imaging devices, as well as novel imaging modalities and applications. We are seeking interns to support our research, ideally starting in spring 2025 for a duration of six months. This position involves developing novel computational imaging systems and algorithms for imaging materials that present challenges for conventional X-ray CT. The position is based at the Zeiss Innovation Center California, in Dublin, CA.

Responsibilities:

You will develop systems and algorithms to generate high-contrast, high-resolution tomography using our state-of-the-art micro-focal X-ray system.You will work with a dynamic research team from diverse technical backgrounds through all stages of the project and communicate research results to the broader XRM group.

Do you qualify?

Key Technical Qualifications:

Knowledge of classic image processing concepts, such as filtering, image registration, etcFluent in scientific programing languages, such as Python, Matlab, or C++Comfortable with prototyping imaging system using off-shelf components.Currently has or is in the process of obtaining an advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a similar field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with X-ray imaging principles and systems, and computed tomography reconstruction concepts.

The hourly pay range for this position is $23.00 – $29.00

The pay offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent.
