Williams Knight, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for a part-time hourly position in the Adult Career and Community Education Program (Day/Evening) for the 2024 -2025 School year. The Adult Education Division currently serves over 2500 students aged 16 and up annually throughout the City of Buffalo. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must hold a New York State School Counseling Teaching Certificate, -OR- a Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate field from an accredited university, - AND - An Adult Education Certificate (or willing to obtain). For NYS Adult Ed certification, you will be required to take Child Abuse Reporting, SAVE, & DASA workshops. - OR – an Associate’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university, - AND – verifiable work experience aligned to the job duties of a case manager, along with the drive that students can succeed when barriers are removed - AND – an Adult Education Certificate (or willing to obtain). Candidates applying for certification must also take or show proof of Child Abuse Reporting, SAVE, and DASA workshops. EXPERIENCE: Candidates are expected to have experience with high school, out-of-school youth and/or adult learners. Candidates are expected to be able to navigate the community to assist students in removing barriers to their educational goals. This includes community resources, employment opportunities, credentialed training programs and secondary educational institutions. Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with marginalized groups that have the ability to motivate students to do better. Preference will also be given to candidates that are available for flexible shifts outside of the standard school day. DUTIES: Adult Education programs are provided at 16 locations throughout the City of Buffalo. Typically, classes are 3.5 hours, and offered in morning (AM), afternoon (PM), or evening sessions. Case managers provide intake, assessment, and support to students throughout their programming. Case Managers: + work one on one with students to provide counseling and referral services as needed + must be able to implement the instructional program in career advisement following curriculum guidelines provided and NYS Standards/Goals + evaluate students and instruction, and identify and assess barriers for the students + be willing to utilize the database and prescriptive software systems currently available and maintain accurate records. + create individualized plans for student achievement APPOINTMENT: Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews will be scheduled where appropriate. Courses will be offered on an “as needed” basis and based on student enrollment and funding.
