JOB SUMMARY:
The admitting clerk supervisor is responsible for supervising all admitting department clerks. Maintains efficient and orderly admissions of all patients admitted to Mountain View Hospital. Ensures that the patient information is collected and that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures. Interviews incoming patient or representatives and enters information required for admission into computer. Distributes appropriate information to ancillary departments. Maintains open communication with the nursing staff and all other departments of the hospital.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for supervising all areas of the admitting department. Monitor and provide support to admission clerks, making sure correct patient information is being entered into the hospital information system understanding all admitting processes. Able to provide structure and organization to the lobby by monitoring patient flow and lobby control efforts. Will delegate team members to tasks or areas in order to meet the needs dictated by patient flow. Responsible for scheduling the admission staff and making adjustments as needed. Step in to cover shifts when needed and assure that there is adequate staff. Responsible for tracking information regarding errors needed to improve accuracy. Providing completed report cards to the Manager, showing monthly progress and reviewing any need for training, feedback, or areas of concern. Assists the Manager with new hire applications, set ups interviews, and helps with the hiring process. Responsible for scheduling and executing 30,60,90 day reviews for all new hires as well as providing feedback and continued education and training. Responsible to ensure all employees are oriented to their job as well as their role and the roles of the colleagues by scheduling and organizing cross training. Making sure all employees are held to the same standard and receive adequate training Maintains positive working relationships and communicates effectively with all clinical staff, managers, co-workers, and volunteers. Responsible for ordering supplies for the department ensuring each individual area is stocked and that staff has the tools necessary to perform their job functions. Responsible for knowing hospital policies and being familiar with hospital services that are made. Assist and prepare monthly Project Improvements for the admission department and report these to the hospital Quality Assurance department. Demonstrates a positive and respectful workplace as a model of acceptable behavior. Functions well in stressful situations and has the ability to be flexible and organized. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity; ensures confidentiality of patients’ records. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Maintain a positive and respectful workplace as well as a good working relationship, both within the department and with other departments. Communicates with the intent to listen, understand, and influence others. Participates and attends in the educational program, in-service meetings and all other meetings as required.
