Summary
Assumes accountability and responsibility for guiding and overseeing all operational and clinical activities of assigned areas. Ensures effective, safe, efficient, economic, and quality driven clinical outcomes. Demonstrates a commitment to succession planning. Facilitates the professional growth of present and future management teams. Collaborates with respective chairpersons/chiefs of medical staff departments in meeting mutually established goals and objectives for patient care services.

Job DutiesAssists with planning & implementation of organizational goals consistent with the mission, strategic operation, quality and safety performance improvement plans. Assists with the formulation and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and protocols. Directs and oversees budget preparation and assists in the allocation of resources. Maintains timely communication of critical issues and submits reports on time. Develops ongoing recruitment strategies and oversees their implementation. Designs and implements programs to achieve minimal vacancies and reduce turnover. Guides and oversees management of assigned areas to assure economical outcomes, budget compliance, and maximum productivity. Utilizes evidence based research findings within patient care delivery. Maintains ongoing, proactive relationships with all relevant persons (i.e.: medical staff, administrative staff, and other department heads). Represents the organization in community, civic, and professional activities.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in nursing (BSN) and Master’s Degree in nursing or health care related field. 5 years of experience with progressive leadership responsibilities. Demonstrated leadership abilities, self direction, emotional intelligence, and project management skills. Commitment to clinical excellence, patient satisfaction, quality, and safety. Commitment to facilitating, coaching and empowering staff, and supporting overall organizational philosophies, goals, and objectives. Accepts and recognizes differences among people.
