Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Four years of experience or training in clerical work.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

To serve as the special assistant to a classified/unclassified executive or high-ranking classified administrator.
Employees perform duties independently and exercise a high degree of independent judgment and initiative in determining the approach/action to take in non-routine situations.
Level of Work:
Advanced.
Supervision Received:
General from a classified/unclassified executive or high-ranking classified administrator.
Supervision Exercised:
May supervise 1-2 lower-level personnel.
Location of Work:
May be used by all state agencies.
Job Distinctions:
Differs from Administrative Assistant 4 by the presence of responsibility for serving as special assistant to a classified/unclassified executive or a high-ranking classified administrator.
Differs from Administrative Assistant 6 by the absence of responsibility for serving as the confidential executive assistant to the unclassified Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Undersecretary, Assistant Secretary, or equivalent high-level classified/unclassified executive of a major state department.
Examples of Work
The employee will be required to attend meetings and note issues of importance that might affect the agency. On various occasions, the employee may develop contracts and track the legal document from origination to final disposition. With regard to these contracts, the position will require the employee to be the liaison between the agency and the districts outside legal counsel.
This position will monito departmental expenses and certain purchasing obligations. The employee must ensure that expenditure is within departmental policy and current budget obligation. The position will also maintain an updated department asset list and inventory.
The position provides administrative support for the Executive Director, the Police captain, and the Administration department. The employee must prepare reports, correspondence, and other materials as needed. The employee is also responsible for data entry, maintaining files, updating records, policies and procedures, and other administrative duties.
In addition, this position is responsible for maintaining and ensuring strict confidential information, as necessary. this employee shall be required to correspond with basic or sensitive information between other public agencies and private entities as needed. The employee shall be required to have a firm understanding of the department's policies and procedures for releasing information and shall make decision that operate within the said guidelines.
