Adjunct Pool for Nutrition Science
Position Summary: The Nutrition Program at North Central College invites applications to teach courses as a faculty associate during the 2024-2025 academic year. The successful candidate will teach one or two undergraduate (Nutrition Science, B.S) courses per semester. The role requires someone who can deliver course content, contribute to the creation of assignments and other assessments, evaluate and grade student work, and hold office hours to assist students. These appointments are on a course-by-course basis. This posting is continuous to develop a qualified pool of interested candidates. For a list of courses offered in this area, please review: https://www.northcentralcollege.edu/program/nutrition-science Faculty Associate (adjunct) positions are hired on one semester, renewable contracts with loads that do not exceed 8 credit hours; one course per semester is the norm. The standard undergraduate course is 4-credit hours (though other course types exist). The position is a non-benefits eligible, fixed-term appointment with no tenure eligibility. The number of courses is contingent upon unit needs, funding, and sufficient enrollment. Required Qualifications: + Master’s degree in the teaching discipline or a concentration in the discipline (with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in teaching discipline) at the time of appointment. All degrees must be from an accredited institution. A terminal degree is preferred. + Applicants should indicate in their cover letter how their professional work experience and/or teaching experiences qualifies them to teach in one (or more) of the following areas: o Introductory nutrition concepts o Nutrition and metabolism o Food systems and sustainability o Community nutrition o Clinical nutrition and nutrition counseling o Food service management and leadership Desired Qualifications: + Prior higher education teaching experience preferred + Experience facilitating student-led classroom discussions + Evidence of working with a diverse student population + Evidence of effective collaboration skills + Experience with technology/course management systems (e.g. Canvas) + Excellent written and verbal English communication skills The review of applications will occur as the School has needs for a particular course. Applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis. This pool recruitment will be live throughout the academic year, and the School may or may not hire from it, depending on course needs.
