Baccalaureate degree in American Sign Language (Linguistics, Sign Language Studies, Sign Language Education, Interpreter Education, Deaf Education) 2. Certified Deaf Interpreter (CDI) or National Interpreter Certification (NIC) credential from Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or certification from American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) or any other equivalent certification. + **PREFERRED:** 1. At least two years teaching American Sign Language classes at a college or university 3.
