Yes If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The department is establishing a pool of applicants to fill potential part-time temporary teaching positions. Major Responsibilities A classroom based 3 credit hour course pays $3250 per class.The department typically hires for the courses/subject areas listed below but this list is not all inclusive. Other courses/subject areas may become available within the department. ILLUSTRATIVE NEEDS INCLUDE:

Africana Studies: Institutional Racism, African American Community Organizations, International Race Relations, African American Social and Political Thought, Current Issues and Problems in African American Politics.

HIP-HOP CULTURE – (3 credit hour course) Origins of hip-hop. The socio-historical conditions contributing hip-hop, Diversification, Politicization, Internationalization of Hip Hop as music, art, and culture.

INTRODUCTION TO AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES – (3 credit hour course) Exploration of philosophies, problems, prospects, challenges of African American Studies viewed in their interdisciplinary nature.

AFRICAN AMERICAN CHORAL – (1 credit hour course) Conduct and direct the SUNY Cortland African American Choral (Gospel Choir). Will also help in the recruitment and retention of students for the choir and organize gospel concerts.


Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the academic department chair. Required Qualifications Appropriate level of experience and/or Master’s degree. Preferred Qualifications Terminal degree preferred.
