Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Ability to plan, prepare and teach course content and curriculum, utilizing effective methodologies of instruction and assessment tools for the enhancement of learning.Maintain expertise in field of study and teaching pedagogy. Maintain active participation in professional organizations as appropriate.Participate in enrollment management activities and sharing of professional expertise with colleagues and students beyond the classroom.Provide support and in some cases provide the leadership for student recruitment, marketing, and in general activities that “build” a program (A.S., B.A.S./B.S. degree and PSAV programs).Support student activities, include course and career guidance to students with a focus on fostering a love of learning.Share professional ideas and expertise to community and private agencies without gratuity.Assist in the development and planning of the departmental college course schedule.Utilize technology in teaching in communicating with students and in the delivery of instruction.Serve as lead faculty, program manager/department chair, and serve on committees when appropriate.Other duties as assigned.

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:

Performance of clinical dentistry with or without instruction and supervision to dental assisting, dental hygiene, and/or dental students during clinic sessions.Authorization of radiographs, interpretation, diagnosis, treatment planning, and appropriate procedures for dental clinic patients as related to the needs of the dental program’s instructional needs of students currently enrolled and patients of the clinic.Implementation and supervision of all appropriate infection control protocols in the clinic to adhere to CDC, OSHA, OSAP, and ADA recommendationsParticipation in faculty meetings, curriculum reviews, advisory committees, and other projects as they relate to the programs.Responsible for the quality and accuracy of patient files for all patients receiving restorative procedures/care in clinical sessions.Responsible for ascertaining the adequacy of the patient pool and productive clinic schedule necessary for clinic sessions to meet the needs of students, the program, and the community set forth by the college.Have familiarity with Eagle Soft and Cerec Machine software.Liaison with Program Director, Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, and faculty regarding student progress as it relates to clinical skills development.Oversee and facilitate in maintaining the professional clinical atmosphere.

Qualifications Must be a graduate of dental hygiene programs that are a Commission on Dental Accreditation dental school and possess a license to practice dentistry in the State of Florida.   A DMD/DDS or equivalent degree from CODA accredited program.

 

* Education must be received from a regionally accredited institution.

 

Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field is required.

 

HARD SKILLS: Operate medical equipment, diagnose patients, and form treatment plans. SOFT SKILLS: Ability to work effectively, ethically, and patiently with other professionals, students, and patients while providing high-quality care.

 

Commitment to the college objective of providing instruction for a diverse student population. Excellent interpersonal, oral communication and writing skills. Knowledge of learning and assessment theories and methods and the relationship to the pedagogy of teaching. Possess a high level of technical skills and subject matter knowledge as it relates to a specific discipline. Evidence of initiative, resourcefulness and adaptability.
